Purpose / General Description:  To use knowledge, judgement and experience with input from a variety of sources (project specifications, customer input, sketches, etc…) to create and maintain 3D models, submittal drawings, layout drawings, detail drawings, BOM, parts lists, etc…  to serve the diverse needs of production, sales and the final customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide drafting and design service to engineering, operations and sales as requested
• Support the business by developing new 3D models and detail drawings using judgement and experience, and maintain existing drawings, per applicable standards and within the company control and security structure
• Create and configure BOMs for input into business systems, and for use in production
• Make decisions on drawing elements and design parameters based on expertise with minimal supervision; relying on specifications, part / product libraries, engineering sketches, actual part measurements, basic calculations, and experience with company products
• Maintain communications with Sales, Engineers and Production personnel as required ensuring the accurate creation of sales orders, production drawings, and their timely delivery
• Read, analyze and interpret industry specific and customer provided technical information and government regulations; gather, organize and present recommendations to engineering

Minimum Requirements:

• Associates degree / certificate in CAD (preferably mechanical or electrical design / engineering focus)
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in using CAD systems (preferably Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Vault, and 2D Auto CAD)
• Working knowledge of shop practices, GD&T, and applicable drafting standards
• Demonstrated ability to think in terms of “systems” and work creatively to improve them
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and actively contribute to the success of the team
• Good communication and organization skills with a positive attitude
• SAP - ERP experience a plus
• Machining and Assembly experience a plus
